However, training your dog to provide therapy support takes care and lots of special considerations. How We Train Therapy Dogs
Therapy dogs provide gentle, loving support and comfort to people in places such as hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, hospice care, schools, psychiatric facilities, veterans hospitals, and even disaster zones. They require special skills to adapt and respond in these often-stimulating, and sometimes scary environments. They must give and receive love freely, and be comfortable receiving plenty of pets, hugs from kids, and other signs of affection. Therefore, they require a heightened level of training that helps them remain calm, alert, and appropriately responsive in these situations.
Sit Means Sit Philadelphia will work with your dog to help establish valuable therapy dog skills, such as:

Importantly, we will work to eliminate signs of aggression, anxiety, and reactivity, all of which cannot exist in therapy dogs. While full training and certification will take time, we can help your dog build the foundations to become a therapy dog that provides boundless comfort.
